Competition

Many thanks for the hundreds of hours donated by our skating volunteers to make the 18th Annual Magic City International Figure Skating Competition a reality.  We had 141 skaters from 14 clubs, three states and one province.  Plans are in place for our 19th Annual next January.  Please forward suggestions for next year’s competition to Kim Krohn at platysma@ndak.net.  All club members should remember to thank the committee chairpeople and other volunteers.

Fund Raisers for ALL Club Members

Nash Finch is helping the club out with a fund raiser.  For every UPC barcode collected from an “Our Family” brand product, Nash Finch will donate 5 cents to the club.  It’s a great fund raiser, and one that we hope ALL skating families and friends will help out with.  Bring those UPC barcodes in!  The fund raiser will extend through June 2007.  Labels can be given to coaches or mailed in.

Please send your “No Spaghetti Dinner” donations in to the skating office—no committee meetings, no washing dishes!

Vandalism at MAYSA

Some vandalism occurred during our competition weekend in January, resulting in damage to our arena.  The arena management wants to make sure that all of our members and friends know that if the perpetrators are caught that they will be prosecuted.  Anyone having any information about this should contact the police.  Please be on the lookout for anyone desecrating our facility.

Website

Charity Lemere has been working on our club’s website to revamp it and keep it up to date with timely information.  It can be accessed at www.magiccityfsc.com.  Use it to keep on top of club news.  Be sure and contact Charity with relevant information.

Testers

Congratulations to Rachel Bloms who passed her Gold Dance at the MCFSC test session January 12!  This reflects having passed a total of 23  dances, and will result in the awarding of a gold medal in dance from United States Figure Skating.  Congratulations, Rachel!  Other skaters passing tests January 12 are listed on the insert.

From Test Chair Laura Mihalick:  A BIG Thank you to Tim Beach,Doug Bengson, David Leslie, Ed Regalado and Ian Thompson for announcing for the Test Session and to Rachel and Jordan Busch for being the "runners" for the Test Session and to Joyce Bloms for making supper for the judges!!! I couldn't make a Test Session happen without volunteers like these!
